Steven Barilla, MD is a Dermatologist. He earned his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While in medical school, Dr. Barilla conducted research on patient education and the use of technology inpatient-centered care.
While at Wake Forest, Dr. Barilla was awarded the Charles M. Howell Memorial Excellence in dermatology Award. Furthermore, while in medical school he published a textbook chapter, numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at both local and national dermatology conferences.
After medical school, Dr. Barilla completed his Internship at Northwell Health Plainview Hospital in Plainview, NY. He then went on to complete his Dermatology Residency at Northwell Health in New York. He conducted numerous research projects related to healthcare disparities, skin cancer, and Mohs surgery. This research led to Dr. Barilla being awarded the coveted 2020 Cutting Edge Research Grant by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery for his work analyzing patient preferences for the use of teledermatology in Mohs surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Barilla’s clinical interests include dermatologic surgery, non-melanoma skin cancer, melanoma, and other pigmented lesions. Dr. Barilla is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for dermatologic Surgery.
